The two signatures are on the same side of a 9 x 8.5 cm piece of pink paper, evidently cut from an autograph album. In good condition, lightly aged. At the head of the side is 'Aman ullah', boldly written with a flourish. At the foot of the side, underlined and rising upwards, is 'Leverhulme.' The two signatures could be easily separated as there is space between them. There is no other writing on the slip. See Image.

12mo, 3 pp. 38 lines. Text clear and complete. The two leaves attached along the margins. Signed in Devanagari and European ('So: Rustam Khan Captain') scripts. He acknowledges 'receipt of the Commission conferring on me the honorary rank of captaincy with a deep sense of gratitude to you and all the Officers of the Regiment'. States that he will 'ever cherish a grateful remembrance of all that the Officers and Regiment have done for me'.

Forty pages, octavo. In original cream stapled printed wraps. Good though somewhat worn and dogeared at corners, and with wraps creased, stained and with marks from rusty staples. Six essays: 'This Sorry Scheme of Things' by Atiyah; 'A Personal Communication' by Khan; 'Reflections on Islamic Art' by Thabet; 'Towards An Arab Federation' by Ibrahim; 'Algazel in the 13th Century Scholasticism' by Fakhri; and 'The Meaning of the Calamity (Book Summary)' by Zuraiq.
