The 22 issues (originals, not a resetting of the text) are continuously paginated, each being 16pp. long, and totalling 352pp., 8vo. Preceded by a title-leaf for 'Vol. I.' and two-page index. Frontispiece engraving of 'Queen Elizabeth's New Grammar School and Chapel, Ipswich.' A differently-inked variant of the same illustration faces the first page of No. 6. In brown morocco half-binding, title in gilt on spine, marbled boards. Internally sound and tight, in worn binding with damage to marbling on back board, and the first leaf of the first issue somewhat grubby. Three bookplates to the front endpapers: Roger Crompton, Notcutt; Edward Law, Nantwich; and A. T. Copsey, Sparrowes Nest, Ipswich. On front pastedown is a label for the Suffolk Bibliography. Regular 'School Intelligence', 'Correspondence' and literary 'Sketches of School', with the customary mixture of poetry and prose, short story by 'T.' serialized in five parts titled 'Up and Down', reviews of 'Uncle Tom's Cabin' and 'Bleak House', and pieces on topics ranging from a description of 'The Crystal Palace' to a poem titled 'The Suicide'. The periodical certainly proceeded beyond number 22: the British Library possesses a second series of 13 numbers. Even individual numbers are now uncommon.
